Cheerful, Authoritative, Consistent Article by Michael Pearl, December 2009

I have seen ridiculous insults and articles( written by the ignorant) blasting the ministry of Michael and Debbie Pearl. People like to pick apart articles about discipline to say they are abusive. These people have not taken the time to read the teachings in full and in context or,perhaps, are convicted.. Again and again I have seen that the point they try to make the most is to "tie strings" and to parent with joy. I was raised with the "break them" mentality and would never want that for my children! The Pearls are a wonderful reminder to keep my children surrounded by joy and godliness.

an excerpt from
Cheerful, Authoritative, Consistent
Article by Michael Pearl, December 2009

"There are three qualities parents must possess in order to produce well trained and disciplined young adults: cheerfulness, authoritative command, and consistency.
Of these three, the greatest of these is cheerfulness . It is the first and most important quality a child trainer must possess. Young parents may not possess authoritative command or consistency when their first child comes along, but they can make a good beginning if they are cheerful. All other skills will come in time."

“Training without joy is tyranny.”

"I know there will be religious tyrants who will skip the first quality—cheerful joy—and will say, “Yeah, that’s it, BREAK THEM. Teach those little devilish nymphs to fear the rod. They must learn who is boss.” If that is your attitude you should give your children away and join Al Qaeda. Then you could hide in the mountains of Afghanistan where you would be in better company, and maybe the military would call upon you with a drone. Anger and aggression have no place in child training. Go back and view The Joy of Training."

Christmas

Christmas was a humbugger this year. Kids liked the gifts but the in-laws are not big fans of Christmas and I kept thinking about the big Christmas's we used to have, where people actually LIKE Christmas festivities. It ended up being a sad day for me. Oh well, maybe next year we will have holiday CHEER.
I was VERY happy to see Pat, Em and kids today! My Christmas gift! Oh, and very excited to get some more of the fabulous soaps they make!

TODAY~

It's COLD outside! We've had about 8-10 inches of snow in the last two days. Brr..
The kids love the snow. Today I made them snow ice cream; one bowl of chocolate and one bowl of pink vanilla.I used whipping cream and it was YUMMY!
Emma has been cracking me up lately. Today she decided that the "gray water" in the bathroom should be pink (she wants EVERYTHING to be pink)so now I don't have anymore red food coloring.
She told me "When I grow up and have a baby I will have pads and bras on." Oh yeah, the two best things about being a woman! -NOT-
She was leaning on Isaiah's crotch and I told her to move and she said that IT was his zucchini... ahem. (She likes changing Noah's diaper so I guess she got that idea in her noggin.)
She plays like the cardboard box is her "little red headed girl", that would do anything for her.
Yep, that's my creative/silly little red head.
I have been having a hard time getting Isaiah's lessons accomplished. I just can't seem to get it together in these living conditions. I won't give up but I wish I could sometimes!
Isaiah is wanting to do more Christmas stuff so I'm going to try to get cookies made and have some Christmas movie nights. Christmas is another thing that I'm just not as in to this year. Not having your own home changes everything!
Noah is a doll. He laughs out loud now and "talks" a lot. We all adore little munchykins. :)

Christmas Fun

Any one who knows me knows that I LOVE Christmas. I love anything and everything to do with Christmas! If there was a real Santa's workshop in the North Pole I would happily live there and have Christmas year round.
Here are some very fun and educational sites that I found and the lyrics to one of the most powerful songs ever written. I think that you have to hear the Vineyard version to feel the full impact!

We Three Kings of Orient Are : Lyrics

We three kings of Orient are
Bearing gifts we traverse afar
Field and fountain, moor and mountain
Following yonder star

O Star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to thy Perfect Light

Born a King on Bethlehem's plain
Gold I bring to crown Him again
King forever, ceasing never
Over us all to rein

O Star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to Thy perfect light

Frankincense to offer have I
Incense owns a Deity nigh
Pray'r and praising, all men raising
Worship Him, God most high

O Star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to Thy perfect light

Myrrh is mine, its bitter perfume
Breathes of life of gathering gloom
Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying
Sealed in the stone-cold tomb

O Star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to Thy perfect light

Glorious now behold Him arise
King and God and Sacrifice
Alleluia, Alleluia
Earth to heav'n replies

O Star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to Thy perfect light

Thoughts of the day

It's been a pleasant week and today has been quiet. Isaiah has been playing outside with his Star wars toys, hubby's cuddling Noah and watching football. Emma is sitting with grandma, waiting for her to finish eating so she can cuddle. I've done some dishes and laundry but other than that and making fruit shakes for breakfast and nachos for lunch, I've had a slow day.
My sweet Noah is just so delicious that I don't want to put him down! He smiles at everyone and has a marvelous laugh. He rolls over,as of yesterday. He rolled onto his tummy last night and slept beautifully that way. He is an excellent sleeper; He sleeps 7-9 hours a night with just a little nursing in between, it's great! He's grown so much that he wears 6 month clothes already (at 10 weeks old),has mommy's forehead birthmark and daddy's coloring. He's a bundle of joy that is very catching. :)
Black Friday was tiring but a success. The kids will be happy this Christmas.
Hubby is still filling out apps. The job he has isn't giving many hours and we REALLY need to find a new one.
I was thinking of my brother on his birthday; wishing him well.
Life changes so drastically, so quickly, I am learning to enjoy the little moments as they come.

Best quote from Thelma and Louise

State Trooper: [Sobbing] Please! I have a wife and kids.
Thelma: Oh really, well, you're lucky. You be sweet to them,
especially your wife. My husband wasn't sweet to me.
Look how I
turned out.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
4 Let those who fear the LORD say:
"His love endures forever."
6 The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?

7 The LORD is with me; he is my helper.
I will look in triumph on my enemies.
8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in man.
14 The LORD is my strength and my song;
he has become my salvation.

Something good

You can learn from anyone and find something good in most.
I have been thinking about the good things in people and happy memories. I am thankful for all of the good in my life! The good may be surrounded by darkness but cannot be completely lost in it.
