Finally feels like Christmas!

This is the first year that I have felt a happy 'Christmassy' spirit about the holidays in years. There have been a lot of stressful holidays; some due to living circumstances, some due to drama and some due to financial stress. I admit that I let circumstances wear me down more than I should and lived in a state of depression for quite some time. I robbed my children of a mommy with a consistent, genuine smile and don't want to let it happen again!
Joy really is both a gift and a choice. God gives you a million reasons to be happy every day but we choose whether or not to focus on blessings more than pain.
Our circumstances are not perfect this year. We're not rich, we no longer own our own home and we are missing a lot of people that used to share special occasions with us. Never the less, we have ever so much to be happy about and we really are HAPPY.

October 31st Isn't Evil at our House

People like to make a big deal out of certain days on the calendar, holidays, festivals and customs. It's a part of human tradition and always will be.Holidays can bring people together by giving them a common focus or drive them apart by differences. So what makes a day special? Simple, it's what you do with it.
As far as Halloween goes, it's just another day. It isn't special to the devil, it has no power and doesn't effect the world with dark magic. The Devil doesn't get excited and shriek out an evil laugh when we put on a costume on October 31st any more than he would on May 5Th. Often time it is the superstitions of the people that bring the evils to a reality. The evil of Satan is always at a maximum!
There are many things celebrated on October 31st around the World.
The Eastern Orthodox Church celebrate Feast Day to honor various 'saints',Abaidas,Quentin and Wolfgang of Regensburg are some of these.
In Slovenia they celebrate Reformation Day in the Lutheran Church.
In our house we celebrate creativity, family time and free candy.
I readily admit the reality of satanism, evil people and the fact that some people use certain days to get together and commit wicked acts.
I refuse to take the blame off of wicked hearted individuals and place it on a date/day that God created the same as any other day.
So, if your heart condemns you and prevents you from enjoying that day that is certainly your right. Please don't tell me that I am celebrating 'the devils day' because I am not celebrating the devil any more than I'm celebrating dead saints or the Popes birthday.
Titus 1:15 To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.
Romans 14:14 As one who is in the Lord Jesus, I am fully convinced that no food is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean.

Autumn Fun

We're having a busy weekend of fall festivities. Tonight Isaiah went to the Haunted Trail of Salemsborg. It's an outdoor trek through the woods at night and with real horseman carrying torches, chainsaws, screams and a wagon ride back.
Tomorrow we are going to some family friendly activities with Hubby and possibly the neighbors. We're looking foreword to giant mazes, hay rides, games, petting zoo and other fun events.
Monday is Trick-or-Treating with the neighbors and possibly my brother and family. My kids are going as a puppy, Pirate Princess and a Navy Seal.
I'll have pictures soon.
I love Autumn ~
